LEAVING THE OLD AND EMBRACING GOD’S NEW

WELCOME BACK! Leaving the old and embracing God’s new begins with a deliberate decision of the heart. The Bible says in (Philippians 3:13–14), “Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” It’s a known fact that spiritual growth requires intentional release. Why? Because God cannot fully establish His new work in us if we remain emotionally, mentally, or spiritually tied to what He has already finished. Holding on to past failures keeps us trapped in guilt and shame, while clinging to past successes can trap us in pride and comfort. Both can silently hinder obedience. Just as Paul refused to be defined by his former life, whether as a persecutor of the church or by his achievements, he chose surrender over stagnation. In the same way, God calls us to lay down every weight so we can rise into His higher calling with freedom, faith, and forward vision (Hebrews 12:1).
Letting go of yesterday means releasing pain, regret, pride, and even familiar comfort zones, so our hearts can fully align with God’s present direction. In (Isaiah 65:17) The Bible says, “The former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind,” showing us that God’s focus is forward, not backward. When Israel left Egypt, God warned them not to long for what they had left behind, because their future promise required a new mindset (Numbers 11:5–6). Likewise, if we live from past experiences, good or bad, we risk missing what God is doing now. Pressing toward God’s higher calling demands courage to trust Him beyond what we know, to obey Him even when the new feels unfamiliar. Agreement with God’s present will often require us to release emotional attachments that no longer serve His purpose, so we can walk in renewed obedience and deeper faith (Psalm 32:8).
God’s “new” always demands a new posture of faith. (Isaiah 43:18–19) says, “Remember ye not the former things… behold, I will do a new thing.” When we cling to the old, we limit our capacity to receive what God is creating, because faith cannot fully operate in a heart crowded with yesterday. Paul pressed forward without being imprisoned by his past, trusting that God’s future was greater than anything he left behind (2 Corinthians 5:17). Today, we are called to do the same, to step into God’s future with expectancy, confidence, and trust, knowing that His new work will surpass our former seasons. Uplifted Moments family, thank you for choosing growth, obedience, and faith. We appreciate your hunger for God’s direction this 2026. May the Lord grant you grace to release the old, courage to embrace His new, and strength to press forward into His divine purpose. We pray that as you let go, God will fill your hands with greater blessings, clearer direction, and deeper joy in Christ Jesus. Amen.
